Owner/Director
Arpie Ashjian
My dream as a young child was to become a teacher, and my love for teaching children grew during my college years while I was a nanny for multiple families. After I had my two children, Araz and Sarine, I was given the opportunity to teach preschool in an Armenian private school where my teaching career started. For more than 8 years, I was blessed to have had the opportunity to work with and learn from experienced professionals in the Early Childhood field. As my children graduated the school system, I shifted gears in my career and started my own Family Child Care. After seven wonderful years of serving young families, I decided to expand the program and move to a larger location. My goal for Open Wings Child Care Center is to keep the nurturing family atmosphere in the classroom setting while keeping the needs of each child a priority. Our Philosophy at Open Wings is to Nurture and Love children during their early years as well as plant “Seeds of Kindness” for a better tomorrow.
Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, reading and spending time with family and friends. I am also actively involved with my church and the Sayat Nova Dance Company of Boston where we preserve and promote our Armenian Faith and Culture.

Assistant Director
Sandy Avedikian
Hi everyone! My name is Sandy and I am the assistant Director here at Open Wings. I was born in Beirut, Lebanon and am Lebanese Armenian. I speak both Armenian, and Arabic. I have my master’s in education and come from a variety of different education experiences such as working as a lead preschool teacher, working with children with disabilities and autism, nannying, and working in classrooms ranging from infants to elementary aged students as support aids. Children are my biggest passion in life, and I have always loved making a positive impact in their lives by taking care of them and helping them grow and learn. For over 15 years, I have always been inside the classroom, so it’s been a great change to be on the administrative side of things but also being able to help in the classrooms whenever needed. I am also a part-time Heated Yoga Sculpt teacher at core power here in local studios! In my free time, I like workout, travel, and be anywhere by the water 😊

Chef/Office Coordinator
Maggie Keshishian
Hello Open Wings Families!
My name is Maggie Keshishian and I have been working at Open Wings for the past two years. I am a mom of two teenage boys, and they are my world. I have been a hairdresser for the past 29 years. I also worked as a Teller Supervisor before my kids were born. As I lived in Maryland for the past 20 years, we would come to visit my sister Arpie and all the babies she took care of at her house. We would come often enough that the kids remembered my sons’ names! Eventually my life led me back to Boston and what better way to start a new job than to help my sister at her new center. I am so delighted to be an infant room teacher; they all bring sunshine to my day. I am also the administrative assistant here at the daycare. I have been a part of our church choir for many years, after graduating Sunday School from St. James Armenian Church. My hobbies include singing, dancing, and playing volleyball. My favorite cartoon has always been Tom and Jerry and my favorite TV show is Three’s Company.
It is always a pleasure to see each one of your children as I peak through the door every morning to say hi as they yell out my name in unison.

Toddler Teacher
Ms. Rose
Hello everyone!
My name is Rose and I’m proud to work as a teachers assistant here at Open Wings, bringing many years of experience and a passion for nurturing and education children. I’ve spent 9 wonderful years working at blooming minds daycare. As a mother of three, I’ve learned firsthand the importance of patience, love, and understanding in raising happy, confident kids. Before transitioning to childcare, I worked as a pharmacy technician for 9 years where I developed a strong attention to detail and a dedication for helping others. My journey to where I am today, began in the 1990s when I moved to the United States from Armenia with my husband and our first born. Adjusting to a new life came with its challenges, but through perseverance and hard work, my family and I built a beautiful life here. Now, as a grandmother to three wonderful grandchildren, I approach my work with a simple philosophy; treat every child with the same care and kindness I would want for my own grandchildren. Seeing the children I work with grow and thrive is one of the greatest joys of my life.
